Case Study #3:
A local company was experiencing a constant increase in their past due accounts receivable yet no explanations were offered by their credit and collection department who seemed to be busy at all times. We performed a review of their operations and determined there were several issues ; (1) lack of training of staff in proper collection techniques, (2) underutilization of the collection software, and (3) failure to understand and address the root causes for the payment delays that were the result of poor product quality and frequent shipping errors. We provided the needed training, identified features in the software that would eliminate hours of wasted effort, and implemented a plan that involved the Operations and Sales departments to correct problems in their areas. Within four months there was a 90% improvement in past due monies.

Case Study #4:
A local company using ADP was experiencing problems with the collection of data for its hourly employees at its main facility and several satellite warehouse locations. We performed a review of the process (entirely manual), and found that each employee’s time card information was reviewed and recorded no less than five times by five different people before being input into the ADP system. We created a more efficient recording form and modified the process so that only two people were involved, thereby reducing the effort and errors significantly. A further improvement was recommended to implement an automated time and attendance system that allowed hours data to be reviewed and approved electronically with the final data transferred electronically to ADP eliminating all data keying. The payback for this system was 13 months and was approved by the company.
